    ABSTRACT

    Nigeria’s situation is getting more and more complex. There is need to put more youths to jobs and avoid, having more crime and criminals, kidnappers, and youths who have lost hope in life. Entrepreneurship equips jobless Nigerians with the skills to create more jobs for jobless Nigerians. This little paper examines how students and non-students can find and creates businesses in Animal Husbandry for self reliance; create business and jobs for jobless Nigerians. It is the author’s suggestion that all hands should be on deck to support Nigerians find Animal Husbandry lucrative enough to create businesses and jobs for jobless Nigerians.

    INTRODUCTION

    The rate of joblessness in Nigeria is ever on the increase, even to those graduates who have doctorate degrees is alarming. Entrepreneurship according to Alam &Hosan, (2009) is the key for creation of businesses and jobs. Chigunta (2001), reported that any nation without entrepreneurs are ever lost. Paid Civil Servants jobs are ever on the increase. In 2017, recession forced governors to send the civil servants to the farm every Saturday. Entrepreneurship bridges the gap so Nigerians job seekers will transcend from job seeking to job givers.

     Entrepreneurship skills in husbandry are a special course for every Nigerian to make a living from. Entrepreneurship skills in Animal Husbandry according to Olaitan are concerned with rearing of animals such as cattle, sheep, goat, pigs, and other animals. The rearing involves scientific approach to production such as housing, feeding, breeding, and health management. This will enable jobseekers a career in animal husbandry if fully exploited is a veritable means self-survival or job creation.

     Promoting entrepreneurship skills and occupational areas of animal husbandry;

     The old form of rearing the animals will not produce the needed results; it will not bring the needed growth, self reliance, and wealth creation. Animal husbandry is one of greatest growing economy in the whole world; to identify what should become in this regard, it is expedient to look at:

    REVIEW OF CURRICULLUM

    1. it should be a special topic in junior and senior secondary schools, with schools, having a farm for the rearing of animal for which all the students work one hour at least week at the farm

    2. the tertiary institutions curriculum should make it compulsory, that every shall before leaving the school, attend to a network, every Saturday for each season, and go out of the school with a certificate or certificates of skills gotten while in the school which includes animal husbandry.

    LEARNING FACILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURES

    1. Salami, (2013) stated there should be provision of laboratories.

    2. To Olasebikan and Haruna (2008) the provision of enabling environment for the acquisition of appropriate skills in animal husbandry means of appropriate of adequate learning facilities.

    3. Worried about the need for; conducive learning environment good, steady, power supply.

    FUNDING

    A major constraint in animal husbandry entrepreneurship skills to lack of fund. Funds for every form of training that needs be given to jobless Nigerians. Decayed infrastructure has to be rebuilt. ENESCO recommended a minimum of 26 percent of annual budget of developing nations of education. Young graduates of animal husbandry who may want to go into the field productions of farm animals often lack initial capital and since they would not have much collateral, banks may not create training centers for training of every Nigerians who wish to go into animal farming, (Animal Husbandry).

    Salami (2013) stated that not too much is provided by the federal government to purchase equipment and tools for effective implementation of the curriculum of training of undergraduates of animal husbandry. Ogudo (2013) recommended that our government should give soft loans to our youths that government should give soft loans to our youths who are interested in invested so that they will be motivated to embark upon such ventures.

    To make entrepreneurship skills acquisition position for graduates and non-graduates of animal husbandry, there is the need for training and re-training of the teachers and through regular attendance at workshops and conferences to update knowledge and skills relevant to the profession, (Ode,2006)

    CONCLUSIONS

    There is no doubt that the issue of unemployment and consequently poverty in Nigeria is a reality. Entrepreneurship in animal husbandry should be able to help more and more Nigerians create more jobs for teaming Nigerians.

    SUGGESTIONS

    1. There should continuous review of curriculum and redesigning of the structure to help more jobless Nigerians create more jobs for the teaming jobless people in the country.

    2. Government should be genuine, committed towards skills building activities in contribution with youths, to create seminars and jobs in animal husbandry for self reliance.
